Glasses could be accessible and low-cost in developing countries

"Yet rules and regulations in many countries stop local shops or kiosks from selling reading glasses...A lengthy and complicated supply chain means that by the time glasses reach their users, several people have taken their “cut” and unnecessarily hiked the final cost. Many governments (impose) heavy import duties and taxes on glasses, which render them unaffordable for most consumers in the developing world."
