Frozen, grated butter could be key to a good biscuit / pastry

"The trick is to use grated, frozen butter. Now, the frozen part should make sense. As I mentioned before, we want to give ourselves as much time as we can with this butter as cold as possible, so why refrigerate it when we can freeze it? As far as the grated part — well, let me explain. Biscuit dough is tricky because you obviously want all the ingredients to be well distributed and nicely incorporated, but you also want to avoid overworking your dough. By grating the butter, it's much easier to evenly distribute it among the dry ingredients, and the grated butter pieces are small enough that you don't need to get in there with a pastry cutter, which can often lead to overworked dough."

A tornado storm chaser truck could be developed

"A research meteorologist at the National Severe Storms Laboratory (NSSL) and a faculty member at the University of Oklahoma, Smith deployed in the field alongside an armada of more than 50 scientists for this highly coordinated study of natural chaos. Half a dozen trucks loaded with sensor equipment sliced through the storm releasing weather balloons while two drones and a turboprop plane buzzed overhead, all with the intent to create a 3D map of the storm."

Tornadoes could be controlled / stopped

"Severe storms researchers were still attempting to learn some of the most basic information about tornadoes—How do they form? How fast are their wind speeds? But some outspoken team members hypothesized to the press that, once they knew more, tornado control would be a logical future step. In 1965, for example, an Oklahoma newspaper wrote that 'Eventually, when weathermen know the exact causes of a tornado, they may be able to prevent its formation, possibly by a cloud-seeding technique.'"
