Students could teach themselves, in groups, with computers

By Hicbd

"'Radical' is based on the way Juárez Correa applied an experimental teaching method that he saw online from Sugata Mitra — an Indian professor who won a $1 million TED prize in 2013. Mitra developed a teaching method that used computers to inspire children to learn on their own and with groups of students, instead of conventional teacher-led classes."

Development could focus on the middle-class / higher education to build sustainable democracies

By Hicbd

"'Often it has been the more educated – university students, [the] middle class – in places like the Philippines or Indonesia that have led revolutions, but those revolutions have then empowered millions more people through education and development,' says Patel, sitting in a small room in the basement of the Commonwealth Club in central London. 'You need to take people who are university students in sub-Saharan Africa and make them more effective.'"

Alternative children vaccine schedules could be considered / studied more

By Hicbd

"What isn’t studied separately is the safety profile. We don’t know whether or not it’s safer or more dangerous to group vaccines together versus spreading them apart. For me, it’s a logical approach. It makes common sense to me that giving fewer vaccines at a time should create fewer reactions, but we haven’t researched that to prove whether or not that’s true."

Police chases could be limited to violent offenders / safer

By Hicbd

"Aiming to curb the hundreds of deaths caused by police chases in the U.S. each year, a new report calls for police not to start a pursuit unless a violent crime has been committed and the suspect poses an imminent threat...The report produced by a committee of experts and policing executives says police chases should be rare, noting that the danger to suspects, officers and bystanders often outweighs the immediate need to take someone into custody."

Hugs could be given on the internet

By Hicbd

"The Nicest Place On The Internet was created by Toby Benjamin in order to, as the About copy states, give visitors “a little pick-me-up” on bad days...It consists of nothing but YouTube videos of people from around the world looking into a camera and giving you a hug that bypasses space and time. A gentle song by My Brightest Diamond plays in the background. Users are encouraged to send in their own hugs through a submission form. It is, as its name suggests, just plain nice."

The postpartum period could have "closing of the bones" ceremonies / belly binding

By Hicbd

"In several Latin American, African and Asian countries similar ceremonies are still widely practiced, yet in the USA we seem to have lost them. During pregnancy the birthing person’s hips become wider and wider. After the birth it is important that they are helped to close back otherwise parents would suffer from pelvic instability. This ceremony helps to realign the bones and muscles. It guides the bones back into place, helps the pelvic organs shift and the uterus to shrink back down and stimulates blood flow. The adjustment of the pelvis aids in milk production and the body relaxes and releases tension from the muscles."

Composting / gardening could have respiratory / bacterial / health risks

By Hicbd

"Compost can be a breeding ground for dangerous pathogens, some of which have killed or seriously harmed unsuspecting gardeners. Inspectors should familiarize themselves with these illnesses, some of which can be contracted in other parts of the house...When stirring and tilling the compost, which is required on a regular basis in order for it to process and break down, always wear a nose and mouth guard or dust mask to avoid inhaling the various spores that will become airborne during tilling and turning."

People / families could spend nights at museums

By Hicbd

"In 2017, four years after its grand reopening, Amsterdam's Rijksmuseum welcomed its 10-millionth visitor, a man named Stefan Kasper. His lucky timing resulted in getting to spend the night in the museum, where he dined and slept underneath Rembrandt's the Night Watch."

Better / drier seed storage could prevent food loss

By Hicbd

"But the risks of receiving poor-quality seed are also significant, particularly in tropical climates. Seed will deteriorate rapidly if it is not properly dried and stored. The resulting poor germination reduces yields, which for vegetable farmers can mean staggered harvests and inconsistent crop quality...Under the Horticulture Innovation Lab, Bradford and an international team have partnered with Rhino Research, a seed technology company in Thailand, to improve the science and tools available for drying and storing vegetable seed. The team initially sought to better maintain seed quality by exploring zeolite-based 'drying beads.'"

Religious missionaries / groups could affect LGBTIQA+ rights in Africa / worldwide

By Hicbd

"Despite what local leaders and politicians have said, international investigations have actually pointed to foreign interests as the driver for anti-LGBTQ inclinations in Ghana. The rise in homophobia, many argue, has been compelled by the work of US-based extremist evangelical groups, according to investigations from news outlets and NGOs. A coalition group called the World Congress of Families, a US-based group with ties to the far-right, organized a 'family values' conference in Accra in 2019, which many proponents of the bill attended, according to Ipas’ investigation."
