How Global Fragile States / Nation Building / Democracy could be different



Development could focus on the middle-class / higher education to build sustainable democracies

Military training in Africa could lead to coups / destabilization

Community radio could transmit useful / important / peacebuilding information

Civil grand juries could help keep government accountable

Government positions could not be obtained by bribes

Penalties could occur for harassing, intimidating, threatening, etc. election workers / volunteers

Legislatures could learn from democratic lawmakers in other countries

Randomly selecting citizens/employees for shadow boards / oversight, staff rotations, sting surveillance, and different recruiting practices could reduce corruption

A national monthly holiday could encourage community improvement projects and volunteering

Public Expenditure Tracking surveys (PETS) could improve to audit governments

Independent monitoring organizations in countries could fight against government corruption

Blockchain could create secure and transportable identification, health, land, education, financial, voting, and employment records

Local NGOs / local employees could be developed to replace international NGOs

Foreign policy could be non-interventionist except to prevent genocide/wars/terrorism

Foreign aid effectiveness in fragile states could improve

Permanent NGOs with local professionals could be established in countries to encourage peace and democracy

Developing countries could have less financial outflows than inflows

Democracies could not have ethnic / tribal / religious political parties

Offshore banking / dark money could be reformed to prevent corruption / crime / terrorism / human trafficking / tax evasion / wars / repressive and corrupt governments
