How Gangs / Drug Cartels could be different



Latin American prisons could prevent the growth of drug cartels / gangs through rehabilitation / separation / workforce training

Gangs could use differently colored paintball guns

U.S. guns / weapons could not illegally go into Mexico / Latin America

Prisoners could or could not have cell phones / tablets with restrictions

Street lighting, non-vacant lots, and speed bumps could reduce crime

Good jobs / education could prevent gang recruitment / terrorism / drug cartels

Police could have athletic / activities leagues

Guardian Angels could help make communities safer

Community members could be trained as violence interrupters or intervention specialists

Mental health services could be more available to those experiencing violence / trauma

Gang involvement could be confronted inside prisons

Mexico could improve its police, prison, social welfare / basic income, and justice systems to confront drug cartels

Nonviolent offenders could be separated from violent offenders in smaller prisons to prevent prison gang recruitment / increased crime

Chicago policing / data collection / budget / afterschool programs could improve to confront gang violence

Chicago and surrounding areas' gun laws could be stricter to lessen violence/murders

Rowing could ease divisions among gangs and be offered by schools

Countries with violence could have longer school hours, afterschool programs, and trauma-informed care

Social clubs could create community development, networking, and other positive outcomes

"Summer slide" could be addressed for better educational outcomes

Surfing could be therapy / rehabilitation

Juvenile detention could be improved to rehabilitate
