We could conduct randomized controlled trials through a dating app
By William
A dating application, with an interface and mechanics similar to Tinder, Bumble, or Hinge, could be created for the purpose of advancing the science of romance.
Volunteers could download this app, with the full knowledge that they were joining an experiment, and then be randomized into control and experimental groups, both blinded.
Relevant data (e.g., demographics and interests initially, followed by subjective date success after encounters) could be collected, and different matching protocols, date settings, and other variables could be manipulated in a systematically experimental way.
All of this could be done for the purpose of collecting knowledge that could be useful to people trying to facilitate happy mating in the future.
