Therapy/counseling could have negative effects

"But then there are cases where, even if a client shows improvement after starting psychotherapy, it is possible they would have recovered more quickly if they had participated in a different, more effective, treatment approach. In that sense, their current therapy has been harmful because it has slowed down their progress. Moreover, many trials that find negative effects are never published – what’s known as the ‘file-drawer’ effect."
