How Dying / Death could be different



Advanced healthcare directives could determine how people want to die in hospice (sedation, vsed, drugs, etc.)

Advanced healthcare directives could encompass mentally and physically incapacitated (vegetative / minimally conscious / severe brain injury / Alzheimer's / dementia) states

Hospitals could have rooms to grieve / process trauma

Cafes could be for grief / discussions of death

Patients who are dying could choose whether or not they want CPR

No one could die alone

U.S. nursing homes/long-term care could be less expensive, less understaffed / negligent, offer reasonable healthcare, have better training, and have accurate ratings

Death could be reflected upon and/or embraced

A death doula could help with the dying process

A final resting place could be within a forest

Deceased family and friends could be remembered / celebrated for a couple of days each year

Wills / estate planning could be done online

Poems could be written before death

Memorials/funerals could be held before death

Ashes could be turned into diamonds / beads

Humans could decompose into soil / the sea

The Zen Hospice Project could be a model for end-of-life care

Mushrooms could be used in burials to alleviate the release of body toxins

Burials could be natural or green

Assisted suicide / euthanasia could be legal
