How Immigration could be different

Merit-based and/or current / future labor shortages could determine immigration policy

Asylum seekers/refugees/immigrants could access culture classes/integration opportunities

Citizenship registries could not deprive people of human rights

Countries could have open borders

A nation or city could be created for or highly accept refugees

A wider range of international asylum procedures could be developed for refugees at sea and land

The U.S. (and other countries' border policies) could operate from a humanitarian framework versus deterrence

Immigrants, refugees and asylees could rebuild their careers in new countries

Guest worker programs could be reformed, expanded, and easier to access for immigrants and companies

Mentorship programs could help at-risk youth, drug addicts, homeless, ex-offenders, potential terrorists, immigrants, refugees, new employees, and students

Developed countries could take in more refugees / asylum seekers

Law-abiding, tax paying, current U.S. undocumented immigrants could have paths to visas / citizenship

Community accompaniment programs or electronic monitoring could be used instead of immigration detention centers
