How Global Education could be different



Students could teach themselves, in groups, with computers

Development could focus on the middle-class / higher education to build sustainable democracies

Silos / food storage in schools could prevent food waste / malnutrition in developing countries

South Korean / Chinese / Japanese school culture could be too intense

Abandoned bikes could go to the poor / developing countries

Bribes could not be required to access government services

Schools could have adequate numbers of psychologists / mental health services

Women in developing countries could not be socially isolated during menstruation / have hygiene education

Healthy school meals could be provided to children

Good jobs / education could prevent gang recruitment / terrorism / drug cartels

Schools could be more socio-economically integrated

Creativity, problem solving, and innovation could be taught in schools

Blockchain could create secure and transportable identification, health, land, education, financial, voting, and employment records

Peer mediation could create a culture of conflict resolution

School curriculums / textbooks / history classes could affect transitional justice / peacebuilding / discrimination

Mobile phones / smartphones could help with wildlife / nature conservation, disaster relief, disease outbreaks, education, election monitoring, financial inclusion, etc.

A rehabilitative model / cash support / schools / places to sleep could be used to help street children

Local NGOs / local employees could be developed to replace international NGOs

Social protections could be ringfenced against fiscal adjustment in developing countries

Short-term program impact, long term outcome effects, and potential waste of international development programs could be evaluated / transparent

Advanced analytics with door-to-door community engagement could enroll more girls / kids in school

Teachers/group sessions/health centers/awareness could help provide mental health services in schools

Civics education could be a part of school curriculums

Youth and adults could learn important social-emotional and life skills

Mother tongue instruction, teacher support and professional development, school food programs, school construction/distance, educating parents, edtech, charter schools, and/or school fee elimination could improve global education

Slums could have creative arts

Environmentalism could be a part of education

Education could be on television

Bookmobiles could increase access to books

Women / girls access to education / family planning could have a big effect on climate change, health, and development

Subtitles could increase literacy

Access to ideas and knowledge could be available around the world

Countries with violence could have longer school hours, afterschool programs, and trauma-informed care

Sesame Street could help refugee children

Orphanages could become regulated, licensed schools

Playgrounds could happen in different spaces

Chess could be offered as a school activity

Foreign teachers could teach languages and expose students to different cultures

Diverse people could serve in two year teaching fellowships

Menstrual cups could be distributed more in the developing world

Puberty books or magazines for girls and boys could be developed and distributed

Schools could have guidance, facilities, and materials for menstruation

Access to books could be through e-readers and mobile phones

Empowerment training courses could decrease rape

Students could be able to see at school

Children / adults in developing countries could be dewormed

Progressive soap operas, reality TV shows, and other shows could be used to boost human rights / public health / child development

Children Savings Accounts could be required for every newborn or kindergartner
